One Final IO Peak!

Well, as we speak, CHA is underway and Impression Obsession's booth is in full swing. Want a peek at some more of the new stamps that are being unveiled this week? Do you want to win some new stamps? Today, for the last day, IO team members will be showcasing some IO's brand new designs and you could WIN a $25 gift certificate to spend on some of these new stamps! To be eligible to win all you need to do is leave a comment on every team member's sneak peek post and the IO blog each day this week! Just that simple! Click HERE for the full link list and to get started!

Moving on to my creation!

I think this new image from Leigh Hannan called Cabana is just too fun. I acutally love this sentiment with it. Don't you just love the thought of having a cabana... all to yourself? Well, just as the sentiment says .. Life is not always a day at the beach! :-) I stamped the image and then colored with Copic Markers (YG01, YG03, B21, B23, B26, V06, E08, E97, E21, E25 and B0000) Cut it out, mat it up on a decorative paper oval, stamp the sentiment and create a "flag" and you're almost done! The rest is just matting it up, adding some paper  piercing and some buttons! I think this would be a fun girlfriend card to send to someone who just needs a little pick me up. Kinda snarky! :-)

You can see all of the new images by clicking HERE. If you want a chance to win some, however, don't forget to start at the IO blog, hop and comment on all the DT members posting each day this week! You can comment until 8 tonight! :-)

Friday Focus.... Calendars!

Hi all and Happy Friday! It's been busy here around the Koerber house and we have a wedding, baby shower, basketball games and helping my mom finish her moving. I might need some deep breathing exercises! ;-)

I do have a fun project. What do you get when you pair up the letter "H", a plaque, a dowel and some office badges? You get a calendar!! Bear with me, this will all make sense. Promise! I started when I saw these badges below at Office Max. I just knew that I could do something fun with them. When Flourishes came out with it's 2011 Calendar download, the wheels started spinning. So... I started with these!
While those wheels were spinning, I saw in my head a kind of hanging calendar holder. I asked hubby to help. We took a trip to Hobby Lobby and picked up these things!
How can I make a holder with these things?Well, that's where hubby came into play. We used the "H" and cut it a part to create our frame, add a 1/2" hold on both sides for the dowel to fit through. Screw it into a regular wood plaque and paint it up and this is what you have! The wood supplies totaled $2.27. Add in a few binder rings and the badge holders and I'm pretty sure this was a $5 project!

I used the Calendar download found HERE and paired it up with Flourishes A Year of Flowers 1. I've only made the first four months of this calendar but I know I'll use A Year of Flowers 2 and A Year of Flowers 3 to finish it up. I should mention, I used Adobe Elements to reduce the size of the calendar to fit inthe 2.5 by 3.5" holder.
Here's a closer look at one of the pages. I colored them all up with Copic Markers and I also used one of the swirls from the Siberian Iris Set to stamp in the corners and then edged with a silver leaf pen.

And, to give the end of the dowels a little pizazz... just add a big rhinestone! :-)
I'm going to keep this little calendar on my kitchen windowsill next to some of my favorite house plants so I never forget what day it is! :-)  Be sure to stop by the Flourishes Blog HERE to see some gorgeous calendar creations by Dawn and a very special guest! Some of the other Flourishes gals also were inspired. So, hop on over and see...

Want to see my fun and spunky creation today?

Gail Green is one of the relatively new artists to IO and when I saw this flamingo, I just thought it was too fun. I colored it with Copic Markers (R00, R01, R11, R12, R14, YR01, C01, C03, C05, RV32, RV34). I also accented the flowers with a little white gel pen. Add a punched border, some pink decorative paper (BasicGrey), some melon colored ribbon, some bling and a fun new layered sentiment called Dream Big, and.... done!

You can see all of the new images by clicking HERE. If you want a chance to win some, however, don't forget to start at the IO blog, hop and comment on all the DT members posting each day this week!

Forever My Friend

Hi all.. hope you've liked the week of sneak peeks into Impression Obsession's NEW IMAGES! Because they continue today! Each day, different IO team members will be showcasing some IO's brand new designs. The good news? You could win a $25 gift certificate to spend on your favorite new stamps! To be eligible to win all you need to do is leave a comment on every team member's sneak peek post and the IO blog each day this week! Just that simple! Click HERE for the full link list and to get started!

On to my creation! This one is a super simple card that uses a few of my new found faves with IO!

I used the new Lovely Rose (small), and then matted it on this fun distressed tag called  Small Dot Tag - that I had stamped in Angel Pink Memento Ink. Add a nice scripted sentiment - Forever My Friend - and that's pretty much it! The rest is matting it all up with some 1/4" silk ribbon, crochet lace, polka dot paper, a sewn edge and a sweet little pink pearl. Voila! Outside of coloring the little rose, this card is a pretty quick and easy one! I just love that little open rose -- too sweet!
You can see all of the new images by clicking HERE. If you want a chance to win some, however, don't forget to start at the IO blog, hop and comment on all the DT members posting each day this week!

You could win a $25 gift certificate to spend on your favorite new stamps! To be eligible to win all you need to do is leave a comment on every team member's sneak peek post and the IO blog each day this week! Just that simple! Click HERE for the full link list and to get started!

On to my creation!

This is another new one from Gary Roberts and I just love the "dreaminess" of it. Just reminds me of a fairy tale. Do you see Prince Charming peeking out from the castle? ;-)  This stamp is called Swan Castle and the sentiment -- added with the help of an oval punch --  is also a new one too called Follow your Dreams.  Both were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and then my image was colored up with Copic Markers. (YG63, YG01, B0000, YR04, YR07, RV32, RV34, V01,V04, V06, E31, W03, W05, R29, BG11, BG13, BG15) You can't tell, but I did add some sparkle to the image thanks to a Stardust Gelly Roll Pen. Mat it onto some Echo Park and BasicGrey decorative paper, add a 1/2" melon ribbon (it's actually Hug Snug Seam Binding),some crochet lace and... voila!

You can see all of the new images by clicking HERE. If you want a chance to win some, however, don't forget to start at the IO blog, hop and comment on all the DT members posting each day this week!

IO Sneak Peeks!

Hi all, Happy Monday and welcome to a week of Impression Obsession's winter preview for all of their new stamps that are just now being unveiled! The fun thing is -- you have a chance to win some of these images. Each day the DT will show off some new images and if you comment on all the posts.... you just might win a $25 gift certificate to the IO store!

If this is your first stop, be sure to check HERE at the IO blog for the link list!

Moving on to my creation....
I absolutely love this new image from Gary Robertson called Live, Laugh, Love Mailboxes. I think it's a real charmer and just love the old fashioned feel. This is a perfect "snail mail" creation if you ask me! I colored it completely with Copic Markers and -- used these colors -- Y21, Y23, Y35, Y38, E27.E27. B21, B00, B0000, R27, R29, C00. C01, C03, C05, C07, YG01, YG03, YG63 and RV32. Mat it up with some BasicGrey and My Mind's Eye decorative paper. Add some stiching and brown 1/2" ribbon, a button and... done! It's funny, some of the IO gals asked Mitra (Impression Obsession's owner) which new stamp seemed to be a favorite and well, this one was at the top of the list for all of us!

You'll have to stop by and leave some love in the form of a comment at the other IO blogs. Remember, you just need to start HERE and leave a comment on all of the blogs of the day to be in the running for the $25 gift certificate!

Good luck and I'll see you back here tomorrow for another sneak peek!

Flourishes Free For All Friday!

Hi all... TGIF! This was one heck of a week and I'm actually looking forward to some down time with my family! How about you?

It's Flourishes Free For All Friday, which means all the Flourishes gals grab one of their favorites from the new release and get it inky! I chose the new Hearts & Flowers set. I just know this will be a "go to" set for quite a while! It's just so easy to create with.

On to my creation for the day....

This is a pretty basic design. I love having more simple cards made up to stick in the mail to friends that need a little pick me up! Sometimes all the bows and bling I like to stick on cards doesn't make it all that well through the mail! After stamping my main image on Flourishes Classic White, I cut and matted it up on some Basic Grey background paper, used a Stampin' Up border punch, and then colored up my image with Copic markers (Y21,Y23, Y35,Y38, B0000). Add some stitching and  a sentiment from the set and... voila... ready to mail!!

I do have some sad news to share before I go! This last release week was the last for a dear friend and fellow Flourishes designer. Laura Fredrickson is deciding to take a step back to have more family time and, well, I think we can - at times - all relate to that. And, as you look below to our designer link list, you'll see a brand new face -- Barbara Anders is making the move from the Friends of Flourishes team on to the Senior DT. Bar is a terrific lady and a fabulous designer and it will be fun creating with her! You can read all about the changes HERE over on the Flourishes blog.
Before I go, today is the last day for the Flourishes New Release Bundle -- it's a package that allows you to get all of our new release sets for January at 10% off! It's a great deal on some even greater sets! Just click HERE to travel to our store to see!

If you need a little inspiration to get you into your creative weekend, hop on over to our designer's blogs. It's Free For All Friday and... that means the gals will be showing off some more creations with our January release! So, hop on over and see.....

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Have a great weekend!

The Color Purple... an Impression Obsession Challenge!

I don't know about you... but the color purple is one of my favorites and this week, the gals at Impression Obsession are challenging YOU to use it! There is a $25 gift certificate up for grabs if you use Impression Obsession images and play along!

On to my creation.... I wanted to use one of the brand new Cover-A-Card backgrounds as my focus because I just think it is beautiful all on its own!

This Damask Cover-A-Card background is one of the new stamps that will be released at Winter CHA in just a few weeks. I am not sure if you've ever seen the Cover-A-Card stamps but they measure 5-3/4" square which --just like the name says -- covers the card! Use it with the rocking Mega Mount and, you get a fabulous impression every time with a large stamp. I love that! I paired the stamp up with Silhouette 2 and just a portion of THIS sentiment called Live Every Moment. Cut the sentiment with a Spellbinders tag, sponge on some ink (Violet Mist Vivid!), add some black ribbon and mat it all up on some purple decorative paper and black cardstock and.. almost done! I did a little paper piercing, added a silver leaf edging and of course, put a dash of bling too! Voila!

You'll have to hop on over and see what the rest of the IO gals whipped up using the color purple!

The final day of Flourishes' Release

FTTC+100+Banner

Want to play and link up to the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday 100th Challenge Blog Hop! Please hop on over to THIS POST to get in on the action! The challenge is an easy one.. just use one or more of your favorites on your card! I did on my creation below... so stay tuned!

It's the final day of Flourishes' January Release Week! We saved today's set for last simply because we knew it would melt some hearts! Wanna see why?

Introducing...

Tokens of Affection Graphic

Have you ever wondered what a token of affection looked like? How about a love tank... or a love machine? Well, wonder no more because Marcella Hawley has put these little pet names and terms of affection onto polymer so that we can all create whimsical and wonderful Valentines for folks of all ages! This set offers 4 darling main images plus 7 perfectly suited sentiments! Want to win this set? Just leave a comment on this post and you'll be in the running!

Moving on to my creation! I absolutely LOVE the little robot in this set. Not to share too much information, but when my hubby and I were first married, he used to sing to me... "I'm just a love Ma-Cheen... and I done work for na-buddy but chooo!" It was hysterical. So, when Marcella wanted to draw an actual love machine.. I was completely on board! :-)

I played along with Flourishes Timeless Tuesday's challenge to use some of my favorites. So, I picked one of my favorite border punches. I added one of my favorite edges -- a sewn edge -- and who could forget BLING! One of my favorite colors to create with is also RED!

So, after stamping my love machine on Flourishes Classic White Card Stock, I colored "her" up with Copic markers using the Cool Neutrals, Poppy and Sweet Pea Collections grouped by Flourishes. I added some glitter (although you can't see it) with the help of a Stardust Glitter Pen. Add some fun decorative paper, a silver leaf edge, a fun brad, some perky ribbon and a rhinestone and... done! Oh, I almost forgot, I used my Spellbinders Heart Die for my little sentiment (also a part of the set), sanding the embossed edges to reveal the paper's white core. Voila!

And, here's a peek at the inside of my card... love this combo!

Wait until you see the design team's take on this set... trust me....their creations are too cute for words! Hop on over and see for yourself!
Thanks for joining me this week! Hope you hop with the Timeless Tuesday gals! OR, if you still want a chance at winning our The Colors of Love challenge (you win all of Flourishes New Releases!), click HERE to check it out! You have until 5 PM Eastern today to submit! Can't wait? Check out our New Release Bundle HERE to save a bundle on our new sets!

Now a peek at my creation!

I just wanted a simple card that really had a dash of whimsy with those Spellbinders Wonky Squares! I realized after I cut and tilted -- that I didn't need a ton more on my card. I stamped the guitar from the set on to Flourishes Classic White, colored it up with some Copic markers -- (Flesh Tones 2, and Water Collections). With the die still on, I did sponge on some turquoise blue ink (old discontinued color!), add a sentiment from the set on a punched oval and string with some silver cording. I also added some bling and a fun little star clip up in the corner. Just that easy peasy!

Let's fire up the band and see how our design team put this creative set to use! Hop on over and see....

January 11 Release Week Challenge

To enter our The Colors of Love Challenge, simply use shades of pink, white, and red and then link your card up HERE on this post. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword FLLCJAN11. You have until January 14th at 5 PM Eastern to enter! Use Flourishes stamps if you have them, but if you don't, please play along anyway! The winner will recieve all of Flourishes new releases for the month!

And, here's a peek at my creation! It's an easy peasy treat cup, perfect for those choc-o-holics in your life!

And, here's how you make it!

What You Will Need:
  • 9-ounce clear party cups
  • Treat cup cover template (create by cutting up the cup, taking off the bottom and using it as a template)
  • Decorative scrapbook paper - 12 by 12" sheet
  • Spellbinders Heart Nestabilities Die
  • 1/4" Scor-Tape (best stuff ever!)
  • Decorative cellophane
  • Candy of your choice
  • Coordinating ribbon
  • Stickers, rhinestones or other embellishments
How to make your treat cup:
  • Cut a part your clear cup, taking out the bottom of your cup and then cutting along back vertically to create a template for your treat cup sleeve. Trace the shape onto your decorative paper and use scissors to cut the shape out.
  • Using a decorative punch or die, cut the center of your treat cup sleeve that you just created. The punched area will serve as a window on your cup sleeve, allowing the candy inside the cup to show through.
  • Embellish your sleeve with stickers, gems or other embellishments if you like.
  • Cut a piece of cellophane to measure 13” by 6”. Attach this to the inside top portion of your sleeve by running a strip of Scor-Tape around the top and securing the cellophane.
  • Wrap the decorative cup sleeve around your clear cup and secure with Scor-Tape.
  • Bunch the cellophane and tie it up with a decorative bow.
  • I used one stamp on this design -- it's the Sweet Friend sentiment from the Angelic Love set! I thought it was perfect for this project! I stamped using Tuxedo Black Ink on a smaller die cut heart to fit into the punched heart left over from my project.
  • Fill your cup with the candy of your choice. The more colorful, the more of a “show” your candy will make in the cut-out window.
Here's a close up of my tag!
Your treat cup is now ready to serve up some sweetness and provide some smiles to those you love! Need a little more inspiration? Please hop on over and see what some of our DT cooked up with these colors of love!
Thanks for stopping by, I can't wait to see what "love"ly creations you submit! See you back here soon!

Love is All You Need!

Hi all and welcome to the very first Impression Obsession Challenge for the new year! This one is especially fun because the Design Team is showing off some of the new images that will soon be released by Impression Obsession during Winter CHA! Woo hoo! Today's challenge is about love, hearts, and valentines! You can read up on the challenge HERE. Remember, there's a $25 gift certificate to the IO Store on the line! :-)

So, here's a peek at my creation...
The paper cone and flowers are from a new clear stamps set called Lighthearted Lines  and the sentiment is called A Loving Note. Again, both will be available soon!

Creating the card was rather simple... stamp, cut out the cone and the flowers, color with Copic markers (RV32, RV34, RV02,RV00, YG00, YG03, YG63). Frame it thanks to Petite Oval and Petite Scalloped Oval Spellbinders Nestabilities dies. (On the scallops, I embossed and then sanded the edges to reveal the paper's core. On the oval, I left the die on, and sponged on some Angel Pink Memento Ink). I also used some foam tape to pop up some of the flowers as well. Add some stitching, linen ribbon, a pearl and a punched oval for the sentiment and... done!

Here's a close up!

Hi all! Now that the hustle and bustle of Christmas is over and we're starting to get itchy to get back our craft rooms, what better time than to issue a dare... courtesy of The Daily Dare! It's the 12 days of Christmas there and I'm helping to usher in the final day of challenges! You can read up on all 12 challenges HERE!!

My challenge is brought to you by... FLOURISHES. And there are two very pretty stamp sets on the line. All you need to do is follow this sketch...

And, here's a peek at the two sets that you'll win! Lace Edges and Paperwhites.

On to my creation.....

I decided to use the Paperwhites set for my creation. I just love the elegance of this set! I followed the sketch and then matched it up with some BasicGrey Curio decorative paper. After stamping the small paperwhite onto some Flourishes Classic White Paper, I colored it up with Copic Markers using E53 and E35 on the roots, YG93, YG95 and YG99 on the stems and BG0000 and Y17 on the flowers themselves. Shade with W01 and W00 and... almost done! I did add some antiquing thanks to Old Paper Distress Ink. I also edged my stamped panel with a gold leaf pen. And then, mat it up, add some gold self-stick pearls, 1/2" black ribbon and... Fini!

Wanna play? The deadline to enter is midnight on Sunday January 9th. If you want to play along with my sketch, just use the keyword  DD12days12 to upload your project to the gallery at SCS. Cindy Coutts
Heather Jensen
Kathy Jones
Yvonne Hagane

On to my creation! When I think vintage, I think papers that look like material that you might use for a quilt, I think lace, velvet and buttons. I think distressed, sewn edges and soft, almost washed out images. So, that's exactly what I tried to accomplish!

Using the Berry Sweet set, I stamped on Flourishes' European Watercolor paper using Versafine Sepia ink. I used Distress Inks to watercolor my image afterward. (I learned that distress inks make great inks to use with watercolor thanks to my BBB teammate Yvonne!) I used Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint and then accented my image with Adirondack Butterscotch ink.

Here's a close up!
The rest is just matting it up! I used Spellbinders Eyelet Circles die. After I embossed the shape, I did go back and sand the edges to give it a distressed feel. Add some beautiful Crochet and Velvet May Arts Ribbon,a button, a stitched edge and a little flag style sentiment and.... voila! The papers I used were BasicGrey Green at Heart and Olivia. Done!

Hope you make time to play! I'll have some more fun here on the ole blog later this week so, be sure to tune back in! :-)
