Hi All ! This card is one I made FOR-EVAH ago. Well, not this exact card, but one exactly like it. Confused yet? LOL! I made one for a colored pencil class I taught on coloring on vellum. Well, after the class, I submitted the card to Rubber Stamper. Apparently, this card lived on in their archives when they sold to Crafts N' Things. Well, now it's on page 89 of the June issue! Fun! What a great surprise!! The stamp is the Zinnia stamp from Serendipity Stamps.
It's ironic, because I did this technique on another card recently (before I knew about the magazine) and will share more of a how- to next week. Why can't I show you now?? Oh, thanks for asking! Well, it's featuring a stamp set that hasn't been released yet! Don't worry, it's less than a week from now! :-)
Before I go, another, yet another Ellie story. Sorry - she's on a roll lately! It was a busy work day and I kind of was preoccupied. I was in my kitchen leaning up against our breakfast bar when I see this little head pop up. It was Ellie, resting her little chin in her hands. "Mom," she says. "Wanna be in the cool club?" "The cool club?" I say. "What do you have to do to be in the cool club?" She looks (very seriously) at me and says, "Just be cool. I made it up. Right now I'm the only one in it." "Oh," I say. "Count me in." As she turns around and walks away, all I hear in her little voice is one word - "cool." HA! Oh, four-year-olds are such a kick in the pants.
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods! I'll be back tomorrow with -- you guessed it -- Friday's Stamp Simply challenge! This one is "solid!" (That was my hint!!)
p.s. I almost forgot!! GO RED WINGS! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!
Congrats Julie!! It's a beautiful card - I would love the how to.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, and may we all be in our daughters' cool clubs! Right now, I don't think I will ever be in my daughter's club....she's 25 and I am NOT cool! LOL!

See! I'm tellin ya, you need to have your own magazine! What more can I say? Curt
ReplyDeleteTell Ellie that her Nana is a definete winner for cool and I insist on being in the "club". The card is absolutely georgous and I will watch out for the tutorial. Mom
ReplyDeleteAsk Ellie if I can be in her cool club, that would make 4!!! This card is super awesome Julie and what a pleasant surprise having it published! I agree with Curt and Carmel....you should have your own mag........then you can publish an article on the "cool club"!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the card Julie! I love it and look forward to seeing directions.
ReplyDeleteAlso congrats to all the Red Wing Fans - what an awesome series!
Marcie
Glad she accepted you in her cool club, since you are the coolest. Very nice card and Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteI noticed vellum curls up with any hint of liquid, so this might be a good technique. Please show us how.
You are the coolest! Love reading about your daughter! Brings back so many fond memories of my girls!
ReplyDeleteThe card is super! Congrats on being published! And can we get more solid hints for the challenge?
looking forward to seeing the technique. found your blog recently and am LOVING your cards! you're amazingly talented. and cool.
ReplyDeleteand the wings did it again!
GREAT card! Yippee on being published! Welcome home, Stanley Cup!! And I have a stepdaughter, who's now 24. I was "cool" til she hit about 14 (I came along when she was 8). I am once again "cool" and it breaks my heart. I got to be "in" again cause I boxed up some stuff for her after her Dad died unexpectedly. Stuff like all the cards and letters she ever sent him, the Michigan map she scrawled "I love you, Dad" all over and the threadbare white handkerchief that she used fabric markers on and wrote "Super Dad".
ReplyDeleteFunny how you just plug along doing the best you can with what you've got and a kid's perspective can just blow you away.
Very pretty card! I love zinnas! These are so realistic looking!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! And what a truly amazingly gorgeous card!! I love this vellum beauty!!
