Sneak Peak Day 1: Take a Snow Day!

Hi all and welcome to day one of Flourishes’ Sneak Peeks for October! The DT is starting things early because Flourishes has FIVE new sets to unveil! Get ready for a fun and festive week! Today, we honor the winter months ahead and take in some of the fun-filled things to do when the snow flies!

Introducing....

A whimsical way to enjoy the season in your cards and creations - ski, skate or take an old fashioned sled for a spin - you choose! This set, called Snow Day,  illustrated by Marcella Hawley even offers five sentiments to match and a Nordic pattern to use for backgrounds, borders or accents! Set measures 4 by 6". Too fun for words!

On to my creation!

This card is kind of simple but I love the colors going on here -- so fun for a snowy creation! I stamped the skates from the Snow Day set on Flourishes Classic White card stock and then colored them up using Copic Markers (see collections below under Supplies Used!). Before I stamped, I should point out that I cut out both the Snow Days sentiment and also the skates using the Silhouette Cut File for this set. This file, along with three others will be available Friday! Woo Hoo! After I was done coloring, I mounted it on a die cut oval that had been embossed and sanded using a sanding block. I mounted this on a scalloped oval die cut shape and then added this onto my card front accented with a mix of BasicGrey Olivia paper and paper from the 123 Create Kit called Delightful. Accent with some glitter glue and... almost done! As you can see I did wrap a piece of sheer pink scalloped ribbon (in the kit) and tied my sentiment on with some silver cording. And... voila!

Here's a close up of the skates! I think Marcella did a wonderful job with these -- just too cute! See the sparkle thanks to some glitter glue?

And, here's a peek at my Cameo cut sentiment!

And that, my friends, is it! I just love the soft colors and those nostalgic feelings with an old pair of ice skates. Reminds me of my youth, ice skating on the frozen lakes around my old Michigan home!
