Pick some Gerbera Daisies!

Hi all! It's time for the first day of the Power Poppy release and guess what? If you like the image today, you can get it immediately! How is that? On to my creation! I decided to take a trip back to some of the older Scor-Pal card tutorials on their site and had fun with THIS one called Cami Tri-Fold. I didn't follow the directions exactly -- but followed the basic idea. 

Here's a peek at my finished card!

I started with a 12" by 12" piece of C'oredinations Card Stock that I cut to measure 12" by 5-1/2" and scored twice - once at 4-1/4" and once at 8-1/2".  Once I folded the three sections, I ended up with one portion that was only 3-1/2" wide. And, just like the tutorial, It made a great spot for a window!

So, I took my Long Rectangle Spellbinders Die (retired), and set it where I wanted it on the front my card. 

I wanted a mat on the front of my card, so I took some My Mind's Eye Collectibles Paper and created a 4" by 5-1/4" mat. You can see it above on the back side through my window. I thought setting the die back down in this hole would help me easily cut that window out of my mat. Like I'm showing below...

I made a second mat and again cut out the window. Before I attached it, I did add some paper piercing for a little extra pop....

Now, I am ready for the inside. I created a blue polka dot mat and then, matted up my main image with a dark blue polka dot and set it in the inner portion of my inside fold so that it would peek out through the window in just the right way. After printing my daisies, I colored them up with Copic markers and used G20, G40, G43, G46, Y21, Y23, Y35, Y38, BG0000, BG000, BG10, and BG11. I also accented the centers of my daisies with a Molotow White Paint Pen.  Here's a close up!

You might wonder about the buttons. Well, those were strategically placed so that the front window panel could be secured underneath the scalloped circle. I used a really large glue dot to make sure they stayed put! ;-)

And, here's a peek at the center panel. I printed off the sentiment onto some yellow decorative paper and matted it on the inside. I haven't decided if I am done with this card yet. I might add a white panel to the right so that I have more space to write. Not sure! I am going to set this one aside and keep it for just the right occasion!

Fun little treat pouch!

Hi everyone and happy Saturday! Gosh, this week has been a creative frenzy and today -- I have more fun coming your way with a blog hop designed not only to inspire, but to give you a chance to win some fabulous goodies as well! It's a......

These two great companies teamed up to show you what you can do when you pair Scor-Pal with American Crafts! If I am your first stop -- you will want to head on over to the American Crafts Blog HERE to start the hop! Like I said, there are giveaways along the way, so you don't want to miss out! 

On to my creation! I whipped up this little treat box and coordinating mini card. My card is only 4" by 4", so you get an idea of the size of each one! 

I used the Garden Cafe collection and I have to say, I love these bright and cheery papers -- they just make me want to smile! 


To get started I began with two pieces of paper that measure 8-1/2" by 4-1/2" (paper is Petunia's Pastries) 

From there, using my Scor-Pal, I scored 2" around the two shortest sides and 2" along one -- only one of the longest sides. I also scored on the 1"  and 7-1/2" lines, stopping at the lower score line. I inserted some graphical guides for you to "see!"

I folded the bottom up and then, ad you can see, I cut along the score lines. 

On the second piece, I scored just like the first but instead of cutting flaps, I cut out those two outer sections completely.

Add some Scor-Tape like so.....

I folded the flaps in and then, inserted the second piece of card stock like so...

I folded a mountain fold along the sides like so....

And then, I cut off 1" of my sides along the mountain fold.

Add some Scor-Tape on the outside like so....

 And secure the two pieces together to create the base of your treat box!

 Next, you'll want to make the flap for your creation. I started with a 4-1/2" by 6" piece of paper and scored along the 3" line, folding with a mountain fold. I also used a die cut edge to create my curvy flap. You can use punches or whatever you have, just to give the front of your treat box a little extra pizazz!

The next step is one that really isn't all that necessary. I wanted my flap to be two tone, so I cut the edge off my flap and then  flipped the paper, using the opposite side of the Clover Cantina Varnish paper at the top. I sewed the two pieces together and then added some teal ribbon as a kind of cummerbund closure. Then, I accented with a "Delights" accent in Biscotti.  Just that simple! Now I can get some candies or goodies to stick inside to give as a little thank you gift to someone special! 

I wanted to create a kind of gift set, so I created this coordinating 4" by 4" card using the same papers that I used for my treat box. After layering, adding some stitching and pinking the edges, I added a band of the same teal twill ribbon, used one of my Spellbinders Beaded Circle Dies as the front mat for my card and then accented with another one of American Crafts chipboard stickers - it's called "Details Trifle."

MFT Meets Scor-Pal!

Hi all! I have a fun post for you this Tuesday! The MFT and Scor-Pal design teams have joined forces to show you some fun ways you use these products... together! 

My project is all about Valentine's Day! I don't know about you ladies out there with kiddos, but I am always on the hunt for cute images to make Valentines for my children. When I saw THIS stamp set called Heartfelt, it just warmed my heart! And so, off I went to make a fun fold card with this darling little girl at the center of it all! 

I started with a 11" by 4.5" piece of red card stock, and using my Scor-Pal, scored at the 1.5", 3.5", 7.5" and 9.5" score guides. The mission was to be able to create a "Z" fold on both sides like below... 

I folded on both sides so that when finished, I had a card base that folded like this...

After the base was finished, the fun began by decking out my creation! First, here's a peek at the finished/closed card! You can see, I cut out my image with an oval die, sponged on ink, did some paper piercing and then matted on a heart and scalloped heart die cut shape. I did cut the heart in half and matted half on one side of my fold and half on the other. The oval was attached to ONLY the left side flap. 

I decked out the flaps with some decorative paper and a pinked edge border. And then, when you open it up, you see the sentiment inside framed by a paper pierced heart!

And, I just had to show a close up of that darling little girl! I did paper piece her shoes and scarf with some decorative paper and colored her up with Copic markers. I used R85, R83, R81, R0000, RV00, RV02, R29, R49, and E27 and E37 for her hair. You can see, I did add some glitter to her mitts and the tip top of her hat. The frame was sponged with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

Fun Technique To Try!

Hi all! Happy Monday! Hope this week is a beauty for you! You know, there are so many great tutorials here in blog land and recently, I had an inkling to try a new one that I'd never done before -- a grid card. I've seen were folks stamp on address labels and then arrange the stickers like tiles -- but I'd never seen THIS tutorial before! I found it over on the Scor-Pal website (just follow that link above!)

So, want to see what I came up with?

And... how do you do this? Easy, peasy lemon squeezy.... and FUN too! I took a 4 by 5" piece of Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and using the Scor-Buddy, I scored every 1/2", turned the paper 90 degrees and again, scored every 1/2". From there, I took the Sweet Nature set from Flourishes, inked it up with Rosebud and Bamboo Leaves inks. After my flower was inked, I stamped it over top my scored grid, making sure that the lines were on the indented side and not embossed upward.

Basically, the stamp covers the flat surface, leaving the indents free from stamping. I covered my whole card this way and after I was done, I took a Copic Marker (BG0000) and accented some of the "tiles" to make them stand out a bit more. The rest is just matting it all up! I used Ms. Nelly Kaiser Craft paper, a Spellbinders Labels Seven and Blossom Die (cut thanks to my Grand Calibur). FYI: I did cut two shapes with the same Labels Seven die, embossed the white piece and then cut along the embossed edge so that I would have a 1/16" mat with my green shape.I used the little Blossom die cut shape to act as a mat for my circle sentie. Add some fun ribbon, a pinked edge border (SU punch), some stitching and.... ta da!!!

I thought this was a fun little technique and not too hard to create at all! Hope you have a wonderful start to your week! For those that read my Friday post about -- basketball, basketball and more basketball... I'm happy to report DS won both of his games by a landslide and DD won hers by 6 points. So... YIPPPEEE! Next game is tomorrow! Ahhh, to be a basketball mom. I love it!

Just "Soup"er!

Hi all! "Soup" anyone? Jillibean Soup of course! The gals over at Scor-pal have teamed up with Jilllibean Soup for a fun-filled hop showcasing a sampling of projects you can create when you match up these fun paper and embellishments with one very essential scoring tool!

When I first laid eyes on the Hearty Barley collection from Jillibean Soup, I knew I wanted to think ahead to Valentine's Day for this project. I know. I know. It's hard to think Valentine's Day when we haven't even celebrated Christmas yet, but trust me, you'd want to play if you saw this darling collection too! The inspiration for my creation all started here....

This darling paper is called Beef Broth and when I looked at it, I saw a set of "love notes" that I could slip in my hubby's brief case from time to time! Aren't they cute? So, I started by cutting these notes apart and rounding the corners on all of the little cards. And, this is what I ended up with...

From here, I wanted to create a matchbook style cover to stick my love notes inside! I started with a 3-1/2" strip of THIS paper called Fresh Mushrooms. It's a darling wood grain. 

From there, I picked up my Scor-pal and scored on the 1", 1-1/4". 5-1/2", and 5-3/4" lines. I folded, and using a 1/16" hole punch, I punched a hole through the two layers on each lower side, adding some fun red brads. Here's a peek.....

This is the base for my matchbook style note holder. From there --the embellishing began! this is the fun part if you ask me! I used this die cut sheet called Pea Pods below for all of the accents on my holder...

And this below is how my holder turned out! 

I also added a button from the collection called Cool Beans, some Maraschino colored twine from the Twinery. Here's a closeup! You can see how I used one of the frames and sentiments, a punched border and one of the fun index cards. I love how no matter what you do -- it's all color coordinated!

And here's a peek at how my cards fit inside. The punched border ends up holding the flap from the front down when it tucks down inside.... 

And that, my friends, is it! I darling little love note holder to dig into when you want to tuck some hugs and kisses in a briefcase, or leave them next to the morning coffee! ;-)

A little Bo Bunny/Scor-Pal Treat!

Hi all! This week Scor-Pal is teaming up with Bo-Bunny to share some projects using these two fabulous products together! Since I am using Bo Bunny's paper line Father Christmas, I thought I'd whip up a project that would be perfect as a little hostess gift or accent for your home!

So, let's get started! I wanted to create some Christmas coasters and a little coaster stand to hold them in. I started with these round coasters that I found in the dollar bin at Michaels.

I'll admit, they are pretty as is -- but mine will take on more of a Christmas flair! I started by making my holder. Take a piece of paper (Bo Bunny Wine Dot) that measures 5-1/2" by 10-1/2" and score 1/2" on each side lengthwise.

Flip your paper 90 degrees and then score at 2-1/2", 4-1/2", 5-1/2" and 8". 

Fold each side in, and fold along all lines (valley folds). You can see below that I added some 1/4" Scor-Tape so that the two outside sections could be folded in. 

After you fold both of those sections in, flip your polka dot paper over and add some Scor-Tape to the 1" base section. To create my coaster holder, I also created a cummerbund and base. The cummerbund section was created with a 1-1/2" by 11-1/2" strip of green polka dot paper. It was scored at 1/2", 5" and 6" and 1o-1/2".  I secured on the side with some Scor-Tape. I also created a base for my coaster holder to sit on by covering a 4-1/2" by 2" piece of chipboard with this beautiful striped decorative paper (Bo Bunny Father Christmas Stripe).

 And, this is what it looks like when you put it all together!

Add a Layered Chipboard sticker from the collection to spruce up the front and this part of the project is done! I have to say, I love how the rhinestones are already attached to these stickers -- makes it so easy!

The next part was making my coasters more festive! I covered each with a different paper from the Father Christmas collection and secured to my round coasters with the help of some Modge Podge. 

And, here's a peek at all five done! You can see that I layered pieces and parts from different papers to give it more pizazz and really give it that decoupaged look. I just love the classic lines of these papers -- it creates a truly vintage look, don't you think?

Add the coasters to the cute little holder and.... voila!
