B-Day Memories!

Hi all! I was tagged by my good friend Jennifer Buck and it's a pretty cool tag! You had to go a searching in your photo files and post the 6th picture in the 6th folder on your computer. Well, that took me all the way back to July 15th, which just so happens to be my little Ellie's fifth birthday! To the right of her is my son Cal - who just turned twelve a couple days ago, my niece Sarina and hubby! It brought back some fun memories!

So, now I need to tag 6 people and I pick.....

Christine

Laura
Latisha
Janine
Betty
Jacki

Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! I'll be back with a celebration of my own-- so stay tuned! ;-)

Awards and... tag- I'm it!

Oh gosh... this Thanksgiving weekend made me thankful for you! My friends in blog land are so awesome! I got tagged twice and got a couple of awards too!! The first is from the super duper sweet Robin....

The award says... "This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated."

I am honored to be called charming and Lord knows, you can never have too many friends! So, thanks Robin!!! You rock! Ok, now I am giggling... Rockin' Robin... tweet, tweet, tweet! (Sorry, I couldn't resist! I am SURE she's heard that time and time again!!)

Then, today I got this award from the lovely and talented Tanya....
The coolest blog? Wow Tanya--- too sweet! Thank you both ladies! I am supposed to pick a number of people to dole these out to but that is always so hard for me! So, I am going to chicken out and just tell both of these ladies a BIG huge thank you! It's nice to know that talking and posting here in cyberspace is appreciated! It truly is! You all have no idea just how much fun it is for me when you stop by and say hi!

And, then my bud Kay tagged me and she gave me these categories and I had to put five things in each!
Things I Love: my God, my hubby, my kids, to sing, to dance
Things I Don’t Love: Heights, taking off in a plane, spiders, dirty floors (makes me clean like a nut), when work piles up!
Songs on my iPod: 4 seconds to save the world - Madonna and T-lake, Take 5 - Dave Bruebeck, Pick it Up - Lil Mama, Ain't No Other Man - Christina Aguilera, New Shoes - Paolo Nutini
Favorite Food or Drink: Coffee, Pizza with fresh sauce!, Jamocha icecream, Enchiladas, did I say coffee????

1. I married the boy next door.
2. I have a Border Collie who is neuroitic named Maggie.

I've been tagged!

Hi all! Well, I've been tagged ---times three! First there was Karen aka KrB! Then came Dina and now Jerri Kay! All these ladies rock and are very talented-- so after you are done reading these 7 random things -- visit their fabulous blogs! Ok, first off, I have done this tag before so finding new things might be hard! If you REALLY want to know more about me you can read HERE or HERE! ;-)

Ok... HHHhhhmm.
1. I married the boy next door.
2. I have a Border Collie who is neuroitic named Maggie.
3. I like to play the piano by ear. Many moons ago, I taught myself the Moonlight Sonata.
4. I was honored, extremely off-the-charts honored to recieve the Angels in Adoption award from the Congressional Coalition on Adoption. I even got a trip to Washington D.C. to accept the award. (I got the award for my work promoting adoption awareness)
5. I'm on YouTube! If you blink, you'll miss me. It's for an old news promo from when I was the Noon anchor. Click HERE to see.
6. I interviewed Walter Cronkite once while he was in Yellowstone National Park. I brought my family and we were in his suite setting up a camera for the chat. Well, while we were setting up lights and my camera guy was getting set, I looked over my shoulder and my then four year old was busy digging into the fruit basket the hotel left for Walter. OHHHH NOOOO! When I said, "What are you doing Calvin?" He looked at me with the most serious look and said, "I am eating Mr. Concrete's grapes!" I still laugh about that!
7. When we went scuba diving a few years back, I was busy looking at the beautiful fish swimming along the coral reef when I turned around - there was a baracuda -- looking me right in the eye. EEEK! I was a tad bit scared!!

That's it my friends. That's all I could think of!
Until tomorrow!

News, BFFs And A Tag!

YIPPEE SKIPPY! I just got the news yesterday that I made it to the top ten of the Papercrafts Gallery Idol contest! Can't honestly believe it. I am super excited though. The next challenge is to make a card with a quote as its focus. So, I thought - "I don't really have any quotes!" What am I going to do? So, I say - I'll just go down and check to see if I have even one quote stamp. I have 13. Can you believe a girl doesn't even really know what she has??!?? I told my younger brother about the challenge and you know what he said? "I got one for you - you could quote Winston Churchill." I said, "What's the quote?" "I may be drunk, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly." HAHAHAHAHA! I still haven't checked to see if Winston Churchill actually said that. Brothers. I tell ya! Anyway, the cards will be up Monday so check back then about links and how to vote!! Thanks to all of you who have supported me!! YOU ROCK!

I got a fun award this week that I plan to pass on!! Paylin passed this on! How fun! I'm honored!! BTW, you should check out Paylin's site. She is amazingly talented when it comes to using punches creatively! Back to the award--- I hand this on to Deb, Diane, Jennifer, Barb, Janine, and MOM! And....Renee tagged me! I have to find 7 things to share that you might not know. Well I have had this tag before so finding something new might be really, really tough! But, I'll try! Meantime, I'll try not to bore you! Some of these my be repetitive because let's face it -- my life is only so interesting! LOL!

1. One of my "trips of a lifetime" was to L.A. to see the Grammy Awards. I was on the red carpet reporting for the CBS affiliate that I worked for at the time. Blue man group crashed my liveshot and made freaky faces at me!
2. My dad was an amateur race car driver -- thus my love for fast cars. It's genetic. It has to be!
3. I have a '77 Corvette that is a work in progress.
4. I'm afraid of heights.
5. My favorite color is red.
6. I could eat pizza every day of the week - veggie, barbeque chicken, regular - any flavor - just love it!

I was TAGGED!

Ok, I'm it!!! LOL!

The fabulous Laura Davis over at A Day In The Life Of The Paper Poppy got me!

The rules of the game: Each player answers the questions themselves. At the end of the post the player then tags 4 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment letting them know that they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you've posted your answers.

Ten years ago....
I was 27 and a working mom. My son was one and I was the morning anchor at the local TV station. I got up at three in the morning so by noon I could be home with my son! At that point, we both needed nap time!

Five things on today's "to do list"
It was a "girls only" day since my hubby and son were on a father and son day trip to the hot springs (140 miles away) so, we went to the spray park, did our nails, went to dinner, I came home and had to work for a bit proofing the magazine I work for and then settled in to blog for a bit! Not a bad day at all!!!

Snacks I enjoy
Pretzels, popcorn, string cheese, freezie pops, is coffee with fun creamer a snack??? It is for me!!

Things I would do if I was a millionaire
Pay off all my debt, invest for retirement and college for my kids, start a foundation to provide grants for childrens' charities (this has been a dream of my hubby and mine for years and years).

Places I have lived
Royal Oak, Michigan; Beverly Hills, Michigan; Lansing Michigan; Billings, Montana! That's it!!

I am tagging...

Barb
Dee
Jennifer
Linsey

Take care all! :-)

A tut and a tag....

First of all, I was honored to have one of my projects shown on Inspirational Craft Blogs! If you want to check it out - click HERE. How fun is that? If you want to see the tutorial - here's a LINK to my original post. One of my SBS5 Sisters, Lay Hoon, nominated me. That was really sweet!

Then, I got a fun email from Jennifer saying she tagged me.... well, I'm supposed to share 7 random or weird facts about myself on my blog. Then, I'm supposed to tag 7 people. Well, if you want to play, just leave a comment and a link to your blog with the answers. We'd all love to read 7 wacky things about you... right??

So, here goes:
1. I spent much of my time growing up on a horse farm where I loved to ride hunter jumper.
2. I love to knit and sometimes have a hard time choosing between my needles and my rubber!
(Ok, that sounded odd - you get my gist though!)
3. I used to be a television news anchor
4. I can't bake - the only thing I try is what comes in a box!
5. I've met/seen every living President of the United States - even gave President Clinton some bagels... wierd huh??
6. I have a thing for Corvettes - maybe because I grew up in the 'Motor City!'
7. My family was on Trading Spaces family.

So that's it! Wanna play? Like I said leave a comment!
