Thinking of You!

Hi all and happy Monday! I have a little creativity to kick off your week! I grabbed a sketch over at Pagemaps and had a wee bit of fun!

So... here's the sketch.....

And, here's my take on it! Even though it is close to winter here -- I thought we could all use a dose of spring, right? I mean spring sings eternal in the happy heart, isn't that how that saying goes? And, who couldn't use a few more "Thinking of You" cards in their stash?

I started with a die cut circle, and then I grabbed one of the new Tim Holtz stencils. This one is called a Honeycomb Layering Stencil. I laid it on the circle and sponged on some Distressed Scattered Straw ink. The stamp is one Becky Fleck designed for Penny Black called A Bunch. I stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then grabbed my Copics and colored it up with the Sunflower and Pistachio Collections grouped by Flourishes. The area behind the flowers was shaded using Iced Aqua.   Cut the image out, mount it on the circle and then, following the sketch -- mat it all up with a splash of foam tape. I used some of the scraps from my decorative scrap paper bin, so I am not really sure who designed these prints! Sorry! I added a little seam binding ribbon and some bling and.... almost done! The sentiment was stamped and then punched using a Stampin' Up Oval punch.

Here's a close up!
And that, my friends, is it! As always, if you ever want some inspiration to kick off some creativity in your own stamping spaces, Pagemaps.com is only a click away! Click on the Cardmaps link and there are literally hundreds of sketches right there at your fingertips!

Hope your Monday gets off to a good start! I'll see you back here real soon!

Grab a Cup and Check out Flourishes' Release!

Hi all! Today we bring you another round of inspiration created with our brand new November Release Stamp sets from the Senior Design Team. We had so much fun with them we just couldn’t stop making cards! It’s our chance to show them off at least one more time while you can still purchase the November Stamp Bundle at a discount! Today is the last day the discount is available and we don’t want you to miss out!

For my creation -- I wanted to do a 10 minute card that mixed TWO of the new sets. And so..... here goes!

I started with a little bit of Flourishes Classic White Card Stock. I stamped the cup from the new Grab a Cup stamp set, cut it out and then -- using some decorative paper, I stamped the cup again and then cut out just the java sleeve. Stamp the little logo using Memento Love Letter ink and punch out using a 3/4" circle punch. See?

Then.... comes the card base! I used Flourishes Classic Kraft and made a 4" by 4" card. About an inch from the bottom, I used my Scor-Buddy and scored a couple lines on the back side of my card front. Stamp the sentiment underneath and... almost done! I wanted to use the So Distressed set because of those fabby little coffee stains and drops! I inked up the stamp with Memento Toffee Crunch and then -- while the ink was still on the stamp, I rolled the outside of the stamp in Espresso Truffle so that there would be a darker element on the outside... See?

Add the coffee cup using some foam tape, some red and white baker's twine around the bottom and some enamel dots in red and... ta da!! Done! Now that you've hopped here to see this quick and easy creation, you'll have to see what warm and cozy creations the rest of the Flourishes DT has for you to see today!

Thanks for stopping by! See you back here soon!

Time for a kick off the week sketch!

Hi all and happy Monday! I have a fun-filled sketch to kick off your creative week and this one was a fun one for me because...... today is my niece's birthday -- and this creation was all about her!

First up, my sketch! This was taken from the December 2010 Card Maps! You can  check out all the sketches HERE....

And... here's my take on this one!

You can see I was pretty "literal" with my spin on this one! I used Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders Two for my shape. I am just LOVING those border dies! After I was done with my shape, I kept the die on the edge and then sponged on some Distress Ink in Spun Sugar to add a soft pink glow. Then.. the fun part came! I used the Cupcakes set that Becky Fleck designed for Penny Black to create some birthday pizazz! I used two of the cupcakes from the set and paired it with a birthday candle that I stamped all over my main mat. I used Tuxedo Black Memento and then colored up my images with a mix of Copic markers! Mat it all up on some sparkly paper, add some seam binding ribbon, some blue patterned paper, a wee bit of lace and a crystal button threaded with silver cording and... ta da!!!! Done!

The sentiment was also from the Cupcakes set and I cut that out and formed a fun little sentiment flag! Here's a close up of those darling little cuppy cakes!  You can also see I added a little bit of razzle dazzle thanks to some glitter glue! I mean..... don't we all need TONS of sparkle on our birthdays???

Thanks so much for stopping by my place today! :-) Keep in mind, if you ever need a little sketchy inspiration, just hop on over to Becky Fleck's Pagemaps  to see all the fun she has just waiting to inspire you in your own stamping spaces!

See you back here soon!

Flourishes New Sets Are HERE!

Here we are at our last day of Flourishes' November Sneak Peek Sets! Do you sometimes look at your blank sheet of card stock and think, “I wish there was a way I could warm it up or add some interest or texture without taking anything away from the main image?  Or have you been longing to get your fingers inky and dabble in the mixed media craze?  Well, we’re ready for you!

Introducing...
SoDistressedGraphic

With Mixed Media all the rage, why not add a background set to your bag of creative tricks? This pattern and background set offers all kinds of images that can be used on their own, or as a way to add "texture" to your cards or creations. The options are endless! How about trying to layer these images for even more fun? This set measures 4" by 6".

On to my creation -- with a little bit of a tutorial for you! I call this one easy peasy coloring! First, a peek at my card....

You might take a quick glance at my creation and think I grabbed my Copic markers to color this floral up. Nope! I did it using the new So Distressed stamp set! How?

I decided to let the patterns in this set do the talking, and coloring! I started by stamping the distressed design in Spun Sugar and Angel Pink all over Flourishes Classic White. You can't see it all that well from my photo - but it is a vintage damask type image.

Then, using a faded and distressed background, I stamped it numerous times using New Sprout ink....

And then, I stamped Flourishes' Lenten Rose over top using the green for the leaves....

And the pink for the flowers.....

And, here's a close up! I took this photo from an angle so that you could see that it is all layered, adding dimension with the paper piecing....

And then, on one of my mats, I used the Spun Sugar ink and stamped the distressed damask again to tie it all together!

Add some fun decorative paper, a little tag and some fun die cuts and... ta da! All done! I should mention and you probably picked up on this -- I did add some color with Copics to the centers of the flowers but I only used two colors YG21 and YG23. Then, I added some glitter glue as well.

One last look......

And that, my friends, is it! The Flourishes Design Team loved getting inky with this clever set, so hop on over for some creative inspiration.  And, while you’re hopping remember, we have one more day of….
