More WCMD Cards!

Saturday was World Cardmaking Day, which gave me an excuse to do something that I LOVE to do! Make cards! Afterall, when there are chores to do - you CAN look at your hubby and say - "I'm sorry hon- it's World Cardmaking Day. I HAVE to make cards today. It only comes once a year!" He rolled his eyes -- but at least he gave me some time in my "mom cave!"

This first card was actually the Featured Stamper challenge! We were to be inspired by Sherry Campbell. HERE is a look at the card that inspired the creation below. I loved her layout!

This card is pretty self explanatory! All images are Gina K. Designs. The paper is Miss Elizabeths and the rhinestones are from Kaiser (can be found in the Flourishes store!)
This card was an "inspired by" creation and you can click HERE to see the inspiration piece! We were supposed to create a card that looked like the Coldwater Creek catalog! I used an evergreen stamp in the background with White Staz-On ink. The leaves are from a Stampendous clear set called Summer Leaves and the sentiment is from the Flourishes set called Thank You. Add a few gold nail heads, some black ribbon and mat it all up and you're done!
The last card was done using Flourishes Forest of Trees set and was done for one of the TREE-mendous challenges at Splitcoast! I stamped it in a Sepia Brown ink and then went over the leaves with different rustic shades of Shimmerz paints. The paper is from Memory Box and can be found in the Flourishes store. Add a fancy corner, some stitching, faux pearls and some sheer ribbon and you're done!

So that's it my friends! That's how I spent my World Cardmaking Day! It's was fun. My stamp room is still a mess by the way!! ;-)

Poppies In Red...

Hey all! Got a super easy one for you today! I did this one to go with a gift for my daughter's teacher! I wanted to take some time to watercolor and I just love these poppies from Stampendous. I used watercolor paper (Strathmore 140# cold press), stamped my image with Versafine Onyx Black, heat set it and then I wet the paper down -only in the area that I wanted to color! I started with the background first with a blue wash and then wet down the flowers. I went over the petals once with a red wash and then used more paint to add the shadows and give it more depth. The same went for the stems. I went over it twice to get more depth in the color. The centers were just colored with a Black Sharpie and I added some Stickles to the centers to help make those poppies pop! I matted it on black, added the "Thank You" sentiment from Impression Obsession. The dp is by Crate Paper. It was a simple card just to say thanks for a great school year!

Well, the week is about to wrap up and we'll hopefully all sail sweetly into the holiday weekend! You'll have plenty of time to stamp--right? And, thankfully, Sharon has a great Stamp Simply challenge planned for Friday! It's a perfect challenge to usher in summer! That's my only hint guys! :-)

Happy Halloween!

Well, if I was on top of things, I would have dug out an old Halloween card to share. But, call me lame! I was busy finishing a costume for my 4-year-old darling! When I asked her a few months ago what she wanted to be for Halloween, she said to my surprise--- "a purple kitty." Ok, I said. A purple kitty? Where does she come up with this stuff? Luckily, I found some purple leopard fur and made a really stinkin' cute costume. My daughter is so fun though, she could wear a knapsack and pull it off!

On to today! A friend of mine, Karen Lindsay, came up with this card design and I "made it my own!" It is a card with a sleeve for a book mark on the front. I love the idea! What a great card to give a bookworm along with a great book?? Fun!

This card was done by just using the marker misting technique. I used different colors of marker to color up the leaf and berry stamp from Stampendous. I stamped it, misted it with water and kept going to get multiple generations of the image. The saying in the bottom is also from Stampendous. The pocket was created by folding and tearing some vellum. I layered some card stock and embellished with brads and I was done! The gold tassel at the top of the book mark was actually created with embroidery thread.

Hello Again..

Well, It has been a long, long time. You know when you wake up one morning and you say to yourself, 'What just happened?' Well, that was a bit of my last month. Work. Kids. Things that come up that you don't expect. Sadly, part of my month was crazy because my 15-year-old cat went into liver failure and died last week. Because there were other health issues, this last month has been full of trips back and forth to the vet, worries, etc. It's funny how such a little creature can become so much a part of your life. Anyway, the vet and staff were wonderful. So much so, I decided to jump back into stamping with a thank you card for their kindness.

I love this stamp from Stampendous. The saying is from a clear set of sentiments from Impression Obsession. I just watercolored, matted, added ribbon and a saying and I was done! Off for now, I have a lot of stamping to catch up on!
