Happy World Card Making Day! Isn’t it fun when — no matter where you live — you can join others to make heart felt creations and honor a craft we all love? Well, that’s what World Card Making Day is all about and this year, Flourishes is helping to get those creative juices flowing by ushering in a fun-filled challenge. The winner will get a fabulous goody bag full of papers, goodies and Flourishes Think Pink stamp set! So.... how do you win? Just play along in the....

   

HOW TO PLAY: Join us this World Card Making Day for a little sensory overload when creating! We want you to tap those brain cells and think about how you could use all five senses to make a creation. Use vibrant color to be a "sight" for the eyes. Use something sweet to eat (food images or embellishments) to pique that sense of smell and taste. Use texture to satisfy that sense of touch or use something noisy - die cut machine, punches, eyelets, embossing to use your sense of hearing in the process. Link up your creation over on the Flourishes blog using the Inlinkz widget and you'll be in the running to win a fun-filled goody bag full of stamp sets, and goodies! If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword FLLCWCMD12. So, use your senses and get those fingers inky. We can't wait to see what you create! You have until Tuesday, October  9th at 6PM to enter.

On to my creation!

So.. for my sweet image (taste) -- I chose Flourishes Apple of My Eye set - and it's also sweet smelling too with those apple blossoms (scent)! I stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it up (sight) with my Copic markers (see below for the collections that I used.) I added a little paper piercing, a Classic Tag die for my sentiment (hearing), some twill ribbon tied with some ivory jute and.. ta da! The green paper is a part of the 123 Create Kit called Delightful. The red paper was just some from my scrap bin. And... that's almost it. As you can see by the photo below, I did add some Crystal Effects to the apple to make it all shine -- (texture-- a.k.a. touch).

Time to THINK PINK!

Hi all! As you know, October is a month where moms, sisters, friends, aunts and daughters unite to tell our "sisters" to remember to raise breast cancer awareness and take care of their personal health. Well, it's also a time when you can send a card to someone affected by breast cancer. It's a time when your creations can actually help save lives! Today, Flourishes is unveiling a handful of challenges you can take part in to help others THINK PINK! And, one of them is a part of their Release Week Challenge! Simply play along in the...

   

HOW TO PLAY: Make a card with a pink flair and you'll be in the running. After you make your creation, simply link it up over on the Flourishes Blog using the Inlinkz widget. Play as many times as you like. Use Flourishes stamps if you have them but if you don't, play along anyway -- you could win some (five sets to be exact!). You have until October 12th at 5PM EST to enter! If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword FLLCOCT12.

On to my creation!

I knew when this pink challenge came up, that I would try to make my color combos easy by picking up Flourishes' Color Made Easy Candy Pink Collection. (You can see all the collections HERE and read up on how the system works!) The Candy Pink card stock is a perfect match to the Candy Pink Copic Collection - how fun is that? And while there are matching ribbons as well, I decided I needed to just use some fun white ribbon to help make the rest of the card pop. I also decided the Think Pink stamp set would be PERFECT for this challenge! After stamping my image on Flourishes Classic White using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I did use the Candy Pink Collection as well as the Iced Blue Collection for some subtle shading. Cut both images out and mat onto a circle that had been die cut out of some Basic Grey Indie Bloom decorative paper. (The large circle out of decorative pink paper is also from that Indie Bloom paper pack.) Add a little stitching and some bling and.... almost done! The sentiment is also from the Think Pink set, which I stamped on a notched out strip of pink paper. Ta da!  I should say -- my inspiration was this week's Mojo Monday Sketch that you can find HERE!

This month, Flourishes is joining dozens of stamp manufacturers and card making retailers along with Splitcoaststampers for the Hope You Can Cling to month for breast cancer awareness.  Each day this month, there are challenges with some fabulous prizes on the line -- including a $100 gift certificate courtesy of Flourishes! But, the most important piece of this month is the donation of cards to the MD Anderson Cancer Center. These cards can be sent with encouraging words or can be sent blank, so that families have a way to write notes to their loved ones in care. It's Party Time!

Hi all... Impression Obsession is throwing a bit of a party today -- with a challenge! All you have to do is have some fun and create a card with a party in mind. Grab your IO stamps and then, post your creation over on the IO blog HERE using the Inlinkz widget at the bottom of the blog post today.

On to my creation...

I have to say I love this image -- it's got such a fun contemporary flair and it was fun to paper piece and color up! The stamp is called Streamers  and I love the fact that it is large enough to take up a good portion of a card front. I used Copic markers to color up the stars and dangling globes and picked a mix of ice blues and oranges. The pennants were stamped on decorative paper, cut out and glued on. I also added some razzle dazzle with the help of some glitter glue. See?

I added a fun Martha Stewart punch on the side, some crushed ribbon and a large button threaded with orange and white twine and.. ta da! Finished! Keep in mind, if you want to party with the IO gals, you have until October 10th to play along and you could win a $25 gift certificate if your lucky name is drawn! So, get those fingers inky and while you're surfing, make sure you head on over and see these fine ladies and what they whipped up with a festive flair!

Feeling like Fall!

Hi all and Happy Sunday! Hope you're enjoying the last bit of your weekend. I actually had some time to create and thought I'd share! Since Friday I had fun creating with fall in mind, I thought I'd get back at it and color up one of my favorite flowers -- sunflowers! 

On to my creation!

I decided to pick up the Flourishes Set Seasonal Wreaths and my Copics for this one. And..... to serve as my inspiration, I checked out last Monday's Mojo Monday sketch. You could choose round... or square! See?

So, I stamped my image using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, grabbed my Copic markers (see below for colors), cut it out using a Spellbinders Classic Circle, sponged on some Antique Linen Distress ink while the die was still on my image and then.... mat it all up using a mix of papers (see below). I also added some paper piercing, some seam binding ribbon and a little button threaded with twine. The sentiment "Hello" is from the Flourishes Sunflower set.  I have to say -- I wish I would have taken a photo that was more straight on. The angle I took this at makes it look like my card is all crooked... :-( It's not.. promise! ;-)

Here's a close up! You can see I did add a little razzle dazzle with some glitter glue as well!

This card also qualifies for last Tuesday's Timeless Tuesday (FTTC188) -- which is to create a fall themed card. I think this fits the bill! Click HERE to check out that challenge! 

And that, my friends, is it! Well, I'm out the door headed to a Taste of Home Cooking School. Ever been to one of those? I hear it's a fun afternoon with lots of recipes, lots of good food.
