Back from being MIA!

Some of you noticed that I've been a little M.I.A. these past few days! Well, my family escaped to the mountains this weekend and it was very nice! We got some fresh air, had a nice meal, swam at the hotel, and just enjoyed some good old fashioned family time.

Today we went into the Custer National Forest and found this fun little lake.....It's called Wild Bill Lake and in the early 1900's "Wild Bill" decided that he would make this lake to be a recreation hot spot. He not only dug the lake and stocked it with whitefish (now brown trout), built a dance platform for country dancin', and a boat dock where he did boat rentals. Today, it's not the hoppin' space Bill wanted. Instead, it's a really quiet part of the forest that you can just sit and hear......... nothing! We did think we saw some bear tracks on the trail though. Not a good thing for me. As you'll see in the photo below - Ellie was wearing her black fake fur jacket. Um... maybe not the best choice for hiking in a spot where black bears live. Note to self - pick the pink jacket next time! :-)
So, here's one photo that I played with a bit that Ken took of me and the kiddos. Deep breath in... Can't it always be like this????
When we got home, I had the most fabulous R.A.K. waiting for me in my mailbox. It is one of the prettiest cards I have ever laid eyes on-- really! It was from the lovely Jenn Balcer and had the sweetest note inside!

Here's a close up of the layering she did with the fabulous poppy! Oh my -- that dimension is to die for! I thought about trying to CASE this but then reconsidered. I mean, can I really top this? Me thinks not! Thanks Jenn!
Well, hope you enjoy a great start to your week! My b-day is coming up in a few days and so I am officially taking it easy and declaring it my birth-week! LOL! Why not? I mean, sometimes our lives get so crazy, we need an excuse to kick our feet up and slow down a bit!

I'll be back tomorrow! See ya then!

That's a great photo of you and your kids - looks like everyone had a great time! Lovely card from Jenn - I can see both sides of your internal conversation about it: "gotta CASE this card"...."who am I kiddin'?"....Although, I am sure that you could do it justice with all your talents.

Have a wonderful birthday week!

Beautiful poppy card and family photo. Glad you had a restful, bearless weekend. No bears in my weekend, either, but I am so not ready for the s-n-o-w that is starting to leave tracks. Officially, winter's a whole month away - waaaa!

What a great weekend you had! We don't have anything as majestic (well, not in that way, anyway) here in Texas, I don't know if I'd ever want to leave! Gorgeous! Glad you liked the card!

What a wonderful get away! I love the fresh air, the mountains and the sound of nothing. You all look very refreshed and happy in your photo. Jenn's card is totally fabulous! I love the way she framed the poppies with the oval and made them dimensional. Such a pretty card!
