Mega Masking!

Hi all....it's Flourishes Free-for-All Friday and for this little post, I wanted to show you a bit of what you can do with Flourishes' new Mix-n-Mugs set. As some of the gals on the DT have shown..... you can paper piece with this set(like Danielle did HERE), you can cut and pop up (Like Christine did HERE) or, in this case below -- you can mask!

So... let's get started! I started by making a mask of my mug -- cutting off the very top edge.

Then, I stamped my flowers "in" the mug so that it would look like they were setting inside....
Remove the mask and... voila!
The next step in my creation is actually reverse masking. I wanted to use the polka dots in this set to deck out my mug. So, I made a reverse mask like this....
I stamped the dots multiple times using Angel Pink Memento ink....
Remove the mask and... you have a cute polka dot mug!
And, this is what it looked like after I colored it up. I also added a little sentiment on my mug. Unfortunately, with cold and flu season -- I'm thinking it won't be long before I send this one out. I colored with a mix of Copic markers. I grabbed the Sweet Pea, Hydrangea, Peony, Daffodill and Spring Greens collections grouped by Flourishes and just used a couple colors from each.
And... ta da! The finished creation with some decorative paper, crocheted lace, a dash of pearls and scallops.

I hope this little tutorial on masking with the Mix-n-Mugs set was helpful. I really think this set has so many possibilities. Don't like to mask? Try paper piecing. Don't like to paper piece? Try using the mugs or the fun things to stuff inside on their own! I know I won't run out of ideas any time soon! :-)
If you'd like to grab this set and want to get it at a discount, today is the last day for Flourishes New Release Bundle! You can get Mix-n-Mugs and Butterflies and Blossoms bundled at 10% off. You can click HERE for more details!
Be sure to stop by the other gals blogs to see what fun they've cooked up this Friday!

This card reminds me of Spring! It's not even winter yet and here in the South, we have already had two snow events. The last one was ICE! I don't know if I am up for this or not!

Wow, Very pretty! Thanks for the masking tutorial. Cool idea to use pattern stamps and a reverse mask, seems alot easier than paper piecing (for me), I will have to try this!

This is awesome! It's so pink and pretty and it's a fantabulous masking tutorial for someone (like me) who is masking challenged and needs to practice. Love the reverse masking thing, too - THANK YOU! First though, I gotta get the last Christmas cards done so they are in the mail tomorrow. Happy baking weekend!!
