The after effects of World Cardmaking Day!

I have to admit- this is the first World Cardmaking Day I have ever participated in and I know it won't be the last! Did you have fun? I sure did! When the challenge posts started over at the SCS forum, the wheels started spinning! So, over the next few days -- I'll show you what I cooked up! I would show them all in one post but this week is release week over at Flourishes which means I'm burning the midnight oil trying to spark some creativity with the brand new sets! They are fabulous sets just in time for Christmas!! There is a little something for every style holiday card. So... stay tuned!

The first challenge Saturday over at SCS was a sketch challenge. So, I grabbed some fun paper and one of my favorite sets and went to town!!!

Here was the sketch courtesy of A.J.....

And, here's what I came up with! I used one of my favorite sets- Bird And Vine from Flourishes. The paper, believe it or not, is something I picked up months ago at the Dollar Tree. It's called Miss Elizabeth's. I have to say, this card is actually inspired a bit by Laura Fredrickson over at Scrapnextras! She said her Bird and Vine set might never see white colored paper again! She's been stamping it like crazy on decorative paper with beautiful results! So, heck, I wanted to join the party!! LOL!
I stamped the vine in Lettuce Adirondack ink, colored the flower buds with a deep burgundy Tombow marker and then added the bird and saying "Fly away with me" using Versafine Black Onyx. Add some black rhinestones, some beautiful sheer ribbon, mat it all up and you're done! I love sketches because once you pick your paper it really is Wham, bam, done!

If you still want to play - you have time! You have until, I believe, 11 pm eastern Monday to enter! There are prizes on the line too! Click HERE to find out more about all the challenges! There are several!

Before I go, I thought I'd share some pics of the family that we took tonight. While we don't get a ton of fall color, you can see the golden shades are starting to sprout! This is of our favorite area just a short walk south of where we live!

Here's Cal being a goof!
Here's Ellie watching Cal being a goof!
And, this is one of our favorite trails on the island!
I love fall. It's just my favorite time of year. I'm hoping fall lasts and that we don't go straight to winter! That happens sometimes! I'll be back tomorrow with more more WCMD creations! So... stick around!

Your card is lovely. Thanks also for sharing a part of your family life in Montana. I was there many years ago on a trip to Wyoming.

Lovely card, lovely photos! I "found" Miss Elizabeth's papers also-so fun at such a reasonable price! I don't usually like these silhouette birds, they remind me of "The Raven" but I have to admit that this one is very striking and I do like it a lot! Thanks for sharing with us your wonderful creations!

Hi, Julie,
Great card---I'm thinking I'm going to plan on stamping on some designer paper, too. I'm a hoarder (or just too cautious in my use) of it, so would be a great way to use it more prominently.
You say one is a picture of your favorite trail on the "island"---do you have a trail system on an island in a river near Billings? I'm vaguely familiar with the area having passed through many times, but I'm always looking for places to get out and stretch my legs other than at rest stops. I love it when I come across "greenways or trail systems" along the rivers near larger towns/cities.
