We're on DAY 4 of a major celebration!! My bloggin' bud Sharon Johnson over at No Time To Stamp celebrated a huge milestone recently and now the festivities are underway to celebrate! She hit one million on her blog counter!!!! So, she invited her Stamp Simply design team along with some wonderful friends along to play! There will be candy and challenges and plenty of gift giving ideas ripe for the holiday pickings for 12 whole days!
Today's challenge is over at Deb Saaranen's place - Dream In Color - Do you need a quick, but lovely, little gift for someone? Maybe your child's teacher, the lady who does your hair or nails? The ladies in your book club? Well, today Deb’s Featured Project is to make a small gift attractively packaged for gift presentation. And, guess what? she wants to challenge you to do the same!

So, I call my gift idea - "Notes On The Go!" And, here's why! I found this cute note pad set at Hobby Lobby and when I bought it, I honestly had no plans for it. It was a complete impulse buy -- and why not - did you see the price? Just under two bucks! I just loved the bold and sassy pink and green! So, then the light bulb hit! and I thought, gosh,I have a stamp that is kind of like that flower on the note pad and I even have matching paper so -- why not make a little note pad and note card set?

I started with an 6-1/2 by 11 piece of paper. I measured the notepad to be 1/4" wide and so I doubled that for the "spine" of my organizer and scored 1/2" wide strip that down the middle. I did the same for the side flap. In the photo below, I added digital score marks so you can see! I ended up covering this piece -front and back- with coordinating card stock to match my note pad. Then, I worked on my note cards! I simply stamped the Victorian Rose in the corner of a 4 by 5-1/2" piece of white paper. Then, I matted my paper on coordinating pink and green pieces of paper and outlined the mat with silver leafing pen. I even made envelopes to match! Here's a close up of the flower. I love this stamp! It just looks so pretty without doing anything to it but ink it up!

And, below, you can see what the inside looks like after I set my note cards, note pad and envelopes inside. You can see I added a little scalloped edge to the "pockets" and the flap that will keep it all together. You can also see I added a magnetic snap to make sure it would close nicely. Speaking of closing nicely..... here's what the outside looks like! Not a ton of detail - just enough to give it some spunk! And, did you notice that I re-used the tag that the notepad came with? I thought that was fun! The saying is from a clear stamp set by Impression Obsession called - A Gift For You. Way cool set with fun elements for tags! I just loved that saying - Perfect for this occassion!

There are other ladies who stepped up to the plate on this challenge, so check out Jennifer, AJ, Tammy, Janine, and Jerri!

Julie, this project is FABULOUS!!! I LOVE your holder -- very, very cool!!! I also love that paper you've used. I have had it in the past in both the pink and also in purples. It always makes me happy to use that paper -- OH, I KNOW the recipient of this gift set WILL be happy!!!

Oooh! Pink & green and bright and summery. Just what I needed to see on this cold and snowy morning.
If I had friends who needed gifts, this would be a really good one. VERY clever! You must have done this after your coffee. Yep, I'm back, snotty nose and all, so your vacation is over.
