Ok, I am somewhat laughing as I write this post -- it just goes to show that trying something new is not ALWAYS a good thing! I found some beautiful holly berry paper at my local scrap store and thought I had a good idea!
Well.... not so much!
I took the Santa from Flourishes new Santa, I believe set and stamped it directly on my paper. After layering it up, I added a scallop, some fun red satin ribbon and one of my new faves -- a tag cut and embossed with one of Spellbinders' new dies.
After I got it all together, I showed hubby. This is what he said, and I quote....
"Who shot Santa in the face?"
OH MY GOSH!!!! After he said that, that was all I could see!!! UGH!
Needless to say, I found a scrap of the paper, stamped Santa again, matted him up, added some bling and then added him to my card front making sure to fully cover the 'bloody' Santa! LOL! I also added some color to the holly and berries with the help of some tombow markers and also added some color to Santa's cheeks with some pink chalk. Much better... don't you think?
At least now, I won't scare small children! Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! I'll see you back here soon!

Aren't our DHs great unpaid editors?! LOL - TFS!
Oh that made me laugh! But he's right...it was a bit scary!
Yeah, Ken! It was nice that I didn't have to tell you that Santa obviously needed a tourniquet. LOVE the matted version and so glad you're stil my NICE friend who wouldn't really hurt Santa, would she? Thanks for the laughs ~ you are your Mother's daughter!
Love your husband!!!
The card ended up gorgeous
Hysterical!! I love it!

Take care!!

I can't stop laughing!!! This is hilarious! I was laughing so hard my husband asked what I was laughing at. So when I took my computer to him to read AND see, he chuckled. I was expecting to hear him belly laugh. He must not be feeling well today...OR (as he said) I was laughing so hard for both of us!! Thanks for sharing...really!!!!
OMGosh girl ... this is too funny ... but I just LOVE this card ... absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Your lucky that your husband has a good eye..
The new version is great because it is clearer and it is now the main focus...but I loved the story and it's happened to me too.
We learn from our mistakes as much and more than from our successes.

HO Ho never had it so good! doubles and matted to boot! Way to go, Ken, on Julie's editing team. That's what makes helpmates so 'for all time' and a bunch of great times in there! Keep Looking UP! Mighty fine work. Isn't papercrafting delightful?!
OMgosh, this is too funny - how many times have I have this great idea, knew it was going to be wonderful, put it together and thought "what was I thinking????" Your card (new one of course)is truly beautiful!!
Wow, Julie, what WOULD we do without our DHs and their valuable stamping insights? LOL Mine tells em, "By the time you throw it across the living room and it lands behind the t.v., I can't help you." I say, "Yes, you can. Get it out from behind the t.v.!" - Mary R
Leave it to a guy to think that and ruin it for everyone. I didn't think about it until I read his quote. Do love the card though. Holly has become one of my favorite things since our trip to England and found out it grows on HUGE trees over there. I never knew that before.
Adventures in card making! Cute card, Julie.
And yea! I can comment today. My browser has "issues."
This card is fabulous, Julie!!
Thanks for the laugh, lol!
OMG!!!! That is too funny!!!
But you fixed it! And it looks fabo!!!
Oh my goodness that was funny! I'll have to share this with hubby tonight after he gets home from work.
Love the new version!
