Stamp Simply--- HOT, HOT, HOT!

Ok, I am going to start this all out by saying I am - um- kind of embarassed by this challenge issued by Ms. Sharon Johnson. This week's challenge is and I quote - "Julie Is HOT!" What? Are you kidding me? Well, apparently Sharon thinks I use a lot of red and therefore am red hot. I am now laughing so hard I can barely type. :-) So, the goal is to use the color red as the main focus of the card and then add in other HOT colors! For the official deets on ssnotime50 - check out Sharon's place HERE!

This first RED HOT sample is actually a version of a card I first made several years ago. It features one of my all time favorite background techniques. I stamped the Canvas background stamp (Stampin Up) and a diamond shaped shadow stamp (Hero Arts) using Versamark ink. Then, I just rubbed on a few shades of brown chalk over the images. When I had it blended the way I wanted, I inked up the flower (Hero Arts) with red and green markers and stamped the saying (Hero Arts) with Versafine Black Onyx. Add a black satin ribbon, a gold button and mat this segment on a black piece of card stock that I had edged with a gold leafing pen. Mat this on the red card... and voila... DONE!

Here are a few more "RED HOT" simple samples!! ;-)

Well folks, wish me luck, today is the first day of Kindergarten for my daughter. There might be a huge case of water works at the school. UGH! My baby is growing up! Might need some "virtual" hugs to get me through today!!! I know, I need to put my big girl panties on and deal -- BUT, it's hard!
Hugs back to you!
Julie
p.s. I'll be back tomorrow with the winner of my blog candy! If you haven't signed up yet, the clock is ticking! Look at last Saturday's post!

Virtual hugs and real prayers going your way!!! Actually, I still wait for them to come home and tell me all about it -- I have 2 on their way home from Montana right now (Glacier National Park)!

This is sooooo funny! You are a hottie and I love the hot cards! aaahhhh Kindergarten, I walked my daughter to school that first day. She was so nosey trying to see what the BIG kids were doing behind her that she tripped and fell and skinned both her knees and by the time we made it to school she had blood on her new white socks and pretty pink sneakers. I cried alllllll the way home. I walked through the door bawling like a baby and my husband and son looked at me like I was crazy and I simply said...."just leave me alone" and went to bed and cried some more! Hugs coming your way hun!

Julie your art is truly amazing, if you asked me to pick a favorite from these cards, I truly couldn't, they are all so incredible! I remember the first day I took my first born to pre-school, he was only three. It was so hard to leave him, I had a lump in my throat. When I came three hours later to pick him up, he said, "go away Mommy, I want to play." Two weeks ago I moved him to Nashville, Tennessee where he's enrolled in the Vanderbilt School of Engineering. He's like, go away mom, I'll be okay, I want to be my friends. I'm fine, truly I am, but I do miss him.

How about putting some RED HOT big girl panties on and taking Ellie to school??? Maybe if you're wearing wild underduds, you won't be so focused on letting your baby out in the world. Cards are great as always (my fave is the canvas & diamonds side by side) and now I wish I'd packed some different stuff for my weekend stamping adventures. Why oh why can't I fit my whole studio into my little red car? Hugs and a Happy Weekend to you and yours.

What a milestone....the first day of Kindergarden. She will be fine. You, on the other hand, DO need some virtual hugs! :-)

Fabulous cards....every single one of them! I honestly couldn't pick a favorite!

I am loving all the red hot samples. I think that last one with the olive is my fave!! (they all rock). Our first day is coming up {Tuesday} and I'm already all choked up. I love that they are growing up but geez it's all happening so fast. My eldest will be away from me all day and I can't imagine how I feel when he gets up in that big yellow bus - yikes. I know I'll miss him even though the baby (2 years old now)will keep me plenty busy. Hang in there friend. Huge hugs to you along with a nice soft hankie or two.

OH My! I've been reading through the comments and hearing everyone talk of their children growing up and am now bawling like a baby. What an incredible journey parenthood is. So glad to know others feel the same things I do ... it's filled with joy and some heartache too. Now I'm going to go hug the kids and then get those chalks out and that diamond BG stamp when they are down for naps this afternoon!!

You DO use lots of red. This is another gorgeous one.

Will the waterworks be you, or Ellie? I'll bet she's excited.

I hope your daughter's first day in kindergarten went well (not too many tears for her, or you). Next tuesday my little guy starts pre-K, 3 mornings a week, and I'm a little sad about it too.
