Sustainable Cardmaking!

"Earth month" may be a month away, but I hatched an idea that I'd love to get you all ready! You hardly see those brown paper bags much anymore. Seems like plastic or "reusable" rule. But, every now and then, you can stumble upon some fun. And, here's why!

Twice a year or so, OfficeMax puts out this - fit everything you can in this bag and we'll give you 15% off - sale. Well, for the past couple years, the bag has always had fun elements. I love the swirly leaves and butterfly on this one! So, I immediately thought -- I've got to make a card out of this!

Believe me, it's not a new idea - you can check out THIS post to see last year's version!

Moving on! Gosh, this card couldn't be any easier! Cut out part of the bag, edge it with a gold leaf pen, add some gold self stick pearls, add some sheer ribbon and a fun butterfly sentiment and..... DONE!

Since the pattern repeats on the other side of the bag, I cut out the butterfly from the opposite side and then attached it for a 3-D effect with some mini glue dots!
Easy peasy! Hope you all enjoyed my "green" card! LOL!

See you back here again soon!

What?! You are such a slacker! You do that great magnolia card last week and now it's just the easy-peasy stuff. You came into March like a lamb. But I LOVE this card! Your "vision" is amazing! I remember seeing your stuff in Rubber Stamper, too. Once a genius, always a genius.

Julie. How wonderful to read this entry! That bag has been saved for a great idea to surface. I'll bravely die cut a Sizzix butterfly in black cs, thanks! Now, that gold edging is classy! I'll credit your creativity for this distinctive design!!
Happy Monday, Julie.

Julie this is so great. Before I read the post I was wondering how on earth did she have the same stamp as the image on the bag. So silly.

My order of craft cardstock just came in and I am very inspired

This is so ironic. When I saw our Office Depot bag, the first thing I thought of was that it reminded me of a number of stamp sets with swirls/leaves. However it never crossed my mind to actually make a card with the bag. That's some great inspiration.

You are definitely a 'Go Green' winner. Utilizing the nicest part of that paper bag is ingenious. And the card turned out really nice, too. It's a great idea to have my club members use recyclable items on their cards. Thanks for sharing your idea. MarilynY
