It's Christmas Challenge Time!!!

It's the first of the month, which means that it's time for another Flourishes Christmas Spirit Challenge!

This month, the ever-so-lovely Stacy Morgan is challenging us to use one stamp set... 2 ways!

HERE'S HOW TO PLAY: Have a favorite Christmas stamp but you always do the same thing? Maybe you have limited sets so you want the most out of your stamp. Anyway you want to stamp it, just make it two looks from one set! Please use Flourishes stamps! When you wrap it up with a bow, just link up to the Christmas Spirit 6 Challenge Thread in the Flourishes SCS Forum! You'll be in the running to win a Flourishes Christmas stamp set of your choice!! Please use the Keyword FLLCNOEL6 if you upload to Splitcoast. You have until October 31th 5 pm EST to submit your cards!

On to my creations! I wanted to use the toy soldier from the Drummer Boy set, but wanted it to be completely different colorwise... so, here goes!!

I used the new BasicGrey pad Jovial -- if you can believe it -- both of these cards are made with that one paper pack! Love that!

For my first card, I sought the inspiration from Jen Del Muro's A Sketch For You To Try... HERE is the link to the sketch. Once I got started, I realized I had to take some liberties with it because my image was a little too long.. oh well! I think the sketch is still pretty much there! I colored my solidier up with Copics and used a mix from the Cool Neutrals, Water and Spruce collections grouped by Flourishes. Add some silver thread, a BG button (from the Jovial collection too), some sheer ribbon and... voila! Oh, I almost forgot, that lined paper is actually from the BG Basics -- Manilla collection.

Ok... on to card #2! Again, this was from the BasicGrey Jovial paper collection. And, this time too... I used a sketch to kick off some creativity! This sketch is Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge... which you can find HERE! Color my guy up with Copics (a mix of the Cool Neutrals, Poppy, Dustry Rose and Evergreen Collections grouped by Flourishes), add some brads and gold stitching to imitate the criss cross action from the lines of the drum, add a bow and a sentiment (not yet released from one of Flourishes upcoming Christmas sets!) and... you're done!

And, that, my friends, is it! I had a ton of fun trying to make these two different cards but yet have similar design elements. Want to see what some of the other members of the Flourishes DT whipped up? Head on over and see.....

I love the two colors for these nutcrackers, it totally gives them a different feel.

But oooo the warmth of the traditional colors with those details like the criss cross cording really is yummy Julie!

Love both cards but I have to favor the one with the gold criss cross as it looks very rich and elegant with that added touch. Mom
